چکیده

The influence of sea-surface temperature (SST) on the lower troposphere and stratosphere in tropical, middle, polar latitudes is studied for 1980–2019 based MERRA2, ERA5, Met Office reanalysis data, numerical modeling with a chemistry-climate model (CCM) middle atmosphere. variability SST analyzed according to ERA5 while atmospheric investigated MERRA2 data. Analysis sea surface trends data revealed that significant positive trend about 0.1 degrees per decade observed over globe. In Northern Hemisphere, (about 0.2 decade) 2 times higher than global average, 5 Southern Hemisphere 0.04 decade). At latitudes, opposite are Arctic (positive) Antarctic (negative). impact El Niño Oscillation phenomenon atmosphere Hemispheres discussed. To assess relative SST, CO2, other greenhouse gases’ stratosphere, calculations CCM were performed several scenarios accounting carbon dioxide variability. results experiments demonstrated prevails troposphere, an increase CO2 content plays most important role.

Trends and interannual variability of the South China Sea surface winds, surface height, and surface temperature in the recent decade

[1] Trends and interannual variability of the surface winds (SW), sea surface height (SSH), and sea surface temperature (SST) of the South China Sea (SCS) in 1993–2003 are analyzed using monthly products from satellite observations. Time series are smoothed with a 12-month running mean filter. The east and north components of the SW, SSH, and SST have linear trends of 0.53 ± 0.35 ms 1 decade , ...

Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere

A new publication by NOAA (US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) claims to have removed the previously evident discrepancies between mean global temperature anomalies measured on the surface and those measured in the lower troposphere. It claims that a combination of attention to inaccuracies and the use of linear regression equations on selected climate sequences have removed the...

Sea surface temperature variability: patterns and mechanisms.

Patterns of sea surface temperature (SST) variability on interannual and longer timescales result from a combination of atmospheric and oceanic processes. These SST anomaly patterns may be due to intrinsic modes of atmospheric circulation variability that imprint themselves upon the SST field mainly via surface energy fluxes. Examples include SST fluctuations in the Southern Ocean associated wi...

Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere - Understanding and Reconciling Differences

Temperatures Vary Vertically The global temperature profile of the Earth’s atmosphere reflects a balance between the radiative, convective and dynamical heating/cooling of the surface-atmosphere system. Radiation from the Sun is the source of energy for the Earth’s climate, with most of it absorbed at the surface. Combined with the physical properties of the atmosphere and dynamical processes, ...

Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere - Understanding and Reconciling Differences

observed Changes Surface Globally, as well as in the tropics, the temperature of the air near the Earth’s surface has increased since 1958, with a greater rate of increase since 1979. All three surface temperature data sets are consistent in these conclusions. • Globally, temperature increased at a rate of about 0.12oC per decade since 1958, and about 0.16oC per decade since 1979. • In the trop...
